Made to keep: choosing fabric that lasts
GSM, hand-feel, and the difference between merch people wear and merch people bin.
The difference between a hoodie someone lives in and one they never wear again is mostly fabric. It’s the least glamorous decision in a merch order and the one that matters most.
GSM is not everything, but it’s a lot
Grams per square metre tells you the weight. Heavier usually means it drapes better, lasts longer, and feels like something you’d buy. Too light and it feels like a giveaway — because it is.
Hand-feel sells it
People decide in the first touch. Brushed-back fleece, a dense knit, a collar that holds its shape — these are what make merch feel bought, not branded.
The bin test
Before we recommend a blank, we ask one question: would we wear this if the logo weren’t on it? If the answer is no, we find a better one.
